Mr Chris Killmore
Mr Chris Killmore is currently the Product Innovation Specialist for plate and hot rolled strip products produced by BlueScope.
Previously, he was the Product Development and Design Manager for hot rolled products. He has worked on the product development of hot rolled products for BlueScope for over 30 years, and has worked in the steel industry for over 40 years. He received a Bachelor of Metallurgy degree from the University of Wollongong in 1978.
His research interests include microalloying, thermomechanical processing, line pipe, high strength plate, quench and tempered plate and strip casting. He has worked closely with UOW over many years on steel research projects, including major ARC grants and PhD research programmes.
Mr Killmore has detailed knowledge of the grade designs for all of BlueScope’s hot rolled products and Bisalloy Steel’s Q&T product range. He has worked closely with Bisalloy Steels on their product design evolution and product development over many years.
He appreciates the capabilities of the BlueScope Port Kembla facilities for steelmaking and hot rolling, so provide a strong conduit between the Steel Research Hub and BlueScope’s operations, as well as Bisalloy Steels. He has strong professional contacts with plant based the technical teams, to provide their input into projects.
